5-strongly agree, the hands-on approach added elements which would not have been effective if they were just explained.

4. What types of learning strategies would you recommend to make the activity even better?

I feel this assignment is set up pretty solid.  If we would have had a permanent box with a lid it would have allowed for better second results, however are things in the field going to ever be perfect?

5-strongly agree, the hands-on approach added elements which would not have been effective if they were just explained.

4. What types of learning strategies would you recommend to make the activity even better?

I feel it was perfect, though I know the electromagnetic interference wasn't planned it was a good lesson to be learned as we started this activity.

Field Activity #4 UAV

1. Prior to this activity, how would you rank yourself in knowledge about this topic. (1-No Knowledge at all, 2-Very Little Knowledge, 3-Some Knowledge, 4-A good amount of knowledge, 5 I knew it all about this)

Prior to this activity I would rank myself as 2-Very Little Knowledge.

2. Following this activity, how would you rate the amount of knowledge you have on the topic (1-I don't really know enough to talk about the topic, 2-I know enough to explain what I did, 3-I know enough to repeat what I did, 4 I know enough to teach someone else, 5-I am an expert)

3. Did the hands-on approach to this activity add to how much you were able to learn (1-Strongly Disagree, 2-Disagree, 3-No real opinion, 4-Agree, 5-Strongly Agree)

5-strongly agree, the hands-on approach added elements which would not have been effective if they were just explained.

4. What types of learning strategies would you recommend to make the activity even better?

The UAV introduction was really good.  I felt the software introduction and explanation could have been more in depth.  I didn't have a good grasp of how the programs fully function so I was merely a button pusher, not really knowing if I there was something I could have done better.

Field Activity 5--Development of a Field Navigation Map

1. Prior to this activity, how would you rank yourself in knowledge about this topic. (1-No Knowledge at all, 2-Very Little Knowledge, 3-Some Knowledge, 4-A good amount of knowledge, 5 I knew it all about this)

Prior to this activity I would rank myself as 3-Some Knowledge

2. Following this activity, how would you rate the amount of knowledge you have on the topic (1-I don't really know enough to talk about the topic, 2-I know enough to explain what I did, 3-I know enough to repeat what I did, 4 I know enough to teach someone else, 5-I am an expert)

Following this activity I would rate my knowledge as 3-I know enough to repeat what I did.

I felt a brief navigation exercise with a poorly constructed map would have been a great addition to the learning of how to create a quality navigational map.  Not knowing what to really look for I feel highlighting some poor aspects would have gave us a better understanding of what to look for.

Field Activity 6--Navigation

5-strongly agree, the hands-on approach added elements which would not have been effective if they were just explained.

4. What types of learning strategies would you recommend to make the activity even better?

After completing the exercise I stand behind my statement of activity #5.  Doing a quick navigation with a poorly constructed map would have aided in better map creation and better navigation in the end, in my opinion.

Field Activity 7--Dual Frequency/Total Station

1. Prior to this activity, how would you rank yourself in knowledge about this topic. (1-No Knowledge at all, 2-Very Little Knowledge, 3-Some Knowledge, 4-A good amount of knowledge, 5 I knew it all about this)

Prior to this activity I would rank myself as 2-Very Little Knowledge

I feel a more in depth description of the settings and what they control would be very useful in understanding the operation of the units.  This goes more so for the total station, than that Tesla.  I feel I have just enough understanding to collect points but am not really sure if they would be correct or not.

Field Activity 8--Arc Collector

1. Prior to this activity, how would you rank yourself in knowledge about this topic. (1-No Knowledge at all, 2-Very Little Knowledge, 3-Some Knowledge, 4-A good amount of knowledge, 5 I knew it all about this)

Following this activity I would rate my knowledge as 3-I know enough to repeat what I did.

I feel even further expansion on this task would be a great benefit.  Especially in the geodatabase design and domains.  I believe this could be very valuable knowledge for the future.
